The École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Lyon places research at the heart of its activities. Home to two research units, the school has been authorised to award doctorates in architecture since 2019.

Research at ENSAL

Research at ENSAL is supported by UMR CNRS 5600 Environment City and Society (EVS), with its EVS-LAURe component, Lyon Architecture Urban Planning Research, certified as a research unit by the Ministry of Culture, and URM Models and Simulations for Architecture and Heritage (MAP), with its MAP-Aria component, Applications and Research in Computer Science for Architecture.

EVS-LAURe is a research unit of the Ministry of Culture and part of the CNRS 5600 Environment, City and Society joint research unit.

MAP-Aria

ENSAL hosts the Applications and Research in Computer Science for Architecture team (Aria) from the Multisite Research Unit for Models and Simulations for Architecture and Heritage (MAP).
