Target skills
disciplinary skills: appropriate knowledge of the history and theories of architecture and related arts, technologies, urban planning and the humanities
cross-disciplinary skills: in IT and English
pre-professional and professional skills
speaking skills
ability to analyze and design creations that meet both aesthetic and technical requirements

Training objectives
Discover fundamental knowledge
structure, geometry, materials physics, thermal environments, ecology, architectural theories, history of architecture, history of the city and territory, urban planning, sociology, plastic arts
Discover design processes in relation to various contexts and scales, and with reference to uses, techniques and timeframes, within an explicit pedagogical framework.
Understand and practice architectural and urban design through knowledge and experimentation of related concepts, methods and fundamental knowledge.
Training location
3 rue Maurice Audin

Program
Teaching is organized over 6 semesters worth a total of 180 European credits (ECTS).
Each semester consists of an average of 370 supervised hours and 330 hours of personal work per semester, i.e. around 50 hours per week.
Teaching is organized into lectures and tutorials including the design project workshop.
Program structure
Each semester is structured around 4 teaching blocks, each corresponding to a teaching unit.
Each teaching unit corresponds to a specific teaching modality and teaching time.
UE Project/design
The project/design teaching unit, structured around an architectural problematic aimed at a personal production, analyzed and critiqued as part of a collective and in-depth work, is under the responsibility of a practicing architect teacher.
UE Experimentation/innovations
The experimentation/innovations teaching unit covers representations (observational drawing, descriptive geometry, computer graphics, etc.) and experimentation, enabling students to test, manipulate and experiment with the theoretical contributions delivered in the knowledge and culture block.
UE Savoirs/cultures
The savoirs/cultures teaching unit is made up of lessons in the history and theories of architecture, construction (ecology, energy, materials...) and social sciences with an awareness of research methods.
UE Situations/professional environment
The situations/professional environment teaching unit includes internships, language teaching (English) and fundamental IT skills.
For English, B2 is the level required at the end of the licence cycle.
In the first year of the bachelor's degree, the internship is a working internship. The second first-practice internship is carried out at the end of the second year of the bachelor's degree.
In the first year of the degree program, the internship is a worker's internship, with the second internship taking place at the end of the second year of the degree program. More specifically, in semester 2, a semester dedicated to representation, students will discover the codifications of representation based on an imagined and designed representation. They will also address the societal, cultural, scientific and artistic environment in which drawing operates, and the values that it carries and represents.
.
Specific features of the 2021-2026 program
courses in architectural theory, aesthetics, art history
significant professional teaching
diversified experimentation
three study trips
recognition of student involvement and the valorization of student initiatives
intensive teaching in different disciplinary fields
English courses
a study report anticipating a research project
.
Valuation methods
Assessment is a combination of continuous assessment and final evaluations.
At the end of the degree course, students are required to defend a synthesis project and a study report. The study report is a personal piece of written work summarizing and reflecting on the issues raised by the work carried out, the teaching received and/or the internships undertaken. It enables students to familiarize themselves with the scientific approach.
Career opportunities
The Diploma in Architectural Studies enables a student entering the workforce to fill a position as:
